Remember back in the good ol' 1990s when everyone said that the new millenium would bring about incredible technological advances. "Science fiction will become science fact." Science fact my ass. I got a good friend(well maybe a little more than a friend *wink wink*) whose studying abroad on the other side of the planet. Well, it's 2009. You'd figure that wouldn't be a problem since I could probably beam myself over there to be with her. But no, we gotta shell out 1000 bucks to get on a plane and sit in a cramped seat for 13 hours while some dude in front of you keeps releasing natural gas. How about when you've got a final to take, or an important job interview to attend. You wake up early just to make sure you're not late but theres a traffic jam on the freeway. All this could've been solved if science fiction really became science fact. Unfortunately, it's still fiction.

On a serious note, many of our stuff really havn't improved much from the 1990s. I mean, are cell phones today really much better than cell phones in the 1990s. They may look better or have more applications. But their signals still suck and dropped calls still occur. How about cars. They look sleek, but their mpg is still crap. For all you guys crying out "Hybrid! Hybrid!" look around the streets and tell me the proportion of hybrid drivers to regular car drivers. And what about NASA?? Heck we have yet to put a person on Mars! Wake me up when we're outta the stone age please.
